Engagement shoots. I do get asked a lot as to what an engagement shoot is. It can sometimes be confused with shooting an engagement party or the ‘getting engaged’ event itself.
An engagement shoot for most photographers and most certainly myself is a photo shoot that takes place sometime before the wedding. It’s the chance for me to get to know my couple, how they interact with each another and in turn for them to get to know me (oh you poor things lol).
Every couple is different. No need to say that in a fancy way, the fact is… every… couple… is… different.
SO, I aim to individualize each and every shoot as best I can. I do have ideas as to where we can go and what we can do, but ultimately I want to know about you. And what suits you as a couple.
I love love loooove when people put forth their ideas. Because they are telling me who. they. are.
It may sound scary, it may be nerve wracking… but by the end of an hour you’ll be wondering where the time went and just how easy it was.
Jamie and Phil. I liked them from the get go. I mean how can you not like a couple who constantly smile, laugh at each other (and with each other too I hope), say silly things (as I do most of the time too) and happily tumble around what urban life Christchurch has to offer.
They totally rocked Saturdays urban shoot in the container ship city to the point I almost forgot that I had a camera in my hands. It was more like friends hanging out.
They played ‘If you stand on a crack, you’ll marry a rat’.
Just… hanging out! ;-)
Phil discovered he’s got a new career in modelling!
I had to look Triton up to see if it has any significance!… ‘A minor sea god usually represented as a man with a fish’s tail and carrying a trident and shell trumpet. I really should of known that from loving ‘The Little Mermaid’. Darn it, I failed Disney. :(
Such bright blue eyes, you total stunner Jamie!
Then we nipped into Cosmic Corner to fool around for a bit. The store workers had a good chuckle at us!
-Sigh- I love this.
9 years together. NINE I repeat… they know how to just ‘hang’ with each other. It’s awesome!
We whirled in and out of many shops like a mini tornado.
As the light escaped us, a candy treat was in order.
And just when I thought the fun was coming to a close. They bust out some sweet dance moves!
Jamie & Phil. You are two people who take life with a grain of salt… and I LOVE it. I had such a fantastic whirlwind urban adventure with you both. Thanks for coming up from Timaru to wreak havoc in Christchurch’s central city with me. Can’t wait for your November wedding! xx
